Student Pastor

About the role

The Student Pastor will be responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive ministry for all Junior High – College students under the direction of the Discipleship Pastor and in keeping with the policies of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement a variety of discipleship opportunities to challenge students to become fully devoted followers of Christ, including curriculum approval, leader enlistment and training, space management, and resource approval.
• Plan, coordinate, and lead a vibrant, creative, and innovative midweek worship service for students that fosters fellowship, celebration, reverence, and awe.
• Plan and coordinate trips, camps, and retreats for students.
• Plan and provide periodic social activities for students.
• Coordinate with and support the worship and mission ministries to provide student opportunities.
• Coordinate with the Discipleship Pastor in preparing and presenting an annual budget to the Church Council.
• Engage in connecting with students on and off campus for evangelism and mentoring.
• Demonstrate cooperation with the Senior Pastor, deacons, staff, and Church leadership to promote the entire ministry plan.
• Participate in and support outreach and visitation programs of the Church.
• Provide spiritual and Biblical guidance to Church and non-Church members as needed.
• Work with the Nominating Committee to recruit, enlist, and train workers for all student ministry areas.
• Serve as an effective staff liaison to assigned ministry teams and/or standing committees.
• Utilize the services of ministry assistants and facilities staff in ways consistent with their position descriptions.
• Supply periodic articles for Church publications and the website relating to the student ministry.
• Support the Unified General Operating Budget of Hillcrest Baptist Church and avoid soliciting or expending unauthorized funds.
• Serve on the Church Council.

Basic Personal Responsibilities

• Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed prayer, worship, Bible study, missions, and service.
• Maintain proper priorities in your home and be the spiritual leader of your family.
• Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the Church.
• Financially support the ministries of Hillcrest Baptist Church by giving at least 10% of gross income.
• Maintain wise stewardship over the remaining 90% of income.
• Assist in other duties and assignments as required.
