About the role

The Math & Statistics Department is looking for two (2) student office assistants to join our team! We are a casual and welcoming department and seek students who are happy to help faculty/staff with scanning, copies, errands, and more. These students will also have the responsibility of cleaning blackboards and erasers approximately once a week. Work hours flexibility is helpful, and we will accommodate your class schedule. Average 10 hours per week with a maximum of 15 in special circumstances. The ideal employees would be available at least some of the following times: 8-9 Monday to Friday, and Friday afternoons.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as student office assistant for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Make copies/scans of syllabi, texts, handouts, etc., as requested by faculty and staff; collate and staple as necessary.
  • Run errands on campus, including material delivery and pick-up in other buildings.
  • Distribute incoming mail, notify recipients of packages, and answer the telephone.
  • Wipe down and clean blackboards, trays, and erasers in classrooms as requested.
  • File and organize, type up correspondence as requested.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all office and department visitors.
  • Assist with department event preparation and cleanup as needed.
  • Provide timely notice of absences, and limit absences as much as possible.

Requirements

  • Proof of financial aid for FWS eligibility.
  • Enrolled in at least 6 academic credits.
  • Students must be degree-seeking, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
  • Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.

Qualifications

Preferred: very reliable, flexible schedule, willing to learn, positive attitude, friendly, and some experience working with the public.

Pay

Pay rate: $12.75-$13.00 per hour.
