Overview

Progress West Hospital, opened in 2007, is a part of BJC HealthCare in St. Charles County, Missouri. It offers a range of services including emergency care, surgical services, endoscopy, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and a specialized wound treatment center. The hospital has expanded its Childbirth Center to include advanced services for high-risk mothers and babies, including a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for premature infants.

Additional Preferred Requirements

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital also houses specialist offices for primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Role Purpose

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse.

Responsibilities

• Affords patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided using correct medical terminology.
• Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Captures clinical data and information on patients and reports any abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing.
• Must have completed Nursing Fundamentals Course.
• Preferred Experience: Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Student Nurse Tech.
• PRN Position.
• Day Shift or Night Shift.
• 3 shifts in a 6-week period, 1 of which is a Saturday or Sunday.

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited BSN program.
