Student Nurse Tech - PRN Days/Nights

Position Overview

Select Specialty Hospital - Omaha is seeking a Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) to support our critical illness recovery hospital. The position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school and provides comprehensive training and support for career growth.

Responsibilities

As a Student Nurse Tech, you will be responsible for:

• Obtaining vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data
• Aiding in personal and daily care tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, and hair care
• Assisting with urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, bladder scans, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care, and emptying drainage receptacles/tubes
• Removing peripheral IV’s as directed by RN (excluding those in the antecubital fossa or higher)
• Delivering meals and snacks, feeding patients who are unable to feed themselves, and documenting oral intake
• Turning and positioning immobile patients safely while maintaining proper body alignment; participating in a mobility program
• Transporting patients to designated areas, such as to and from various treatment centers

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program)
• Must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures and aseptic practices
• The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relations with others including patients, families, physicians, and other hospital associates
• BLS certification required upon hire
