Job Requirements
- Participates in the nursing process in delivering care to patients and their families under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
- Delivers direct care activities required in daily practice on the assigned unit.
- Fulfills duties including but not limited to assisting the registered nurse in assessing patients, planning care, implementing care, evaluating care, assisting with invasive procedures, and providing general support services.
- Performs tasks such as nasogastric irrigations, indwelling and intermittent urinary bladder catheterization, dressing changes, calculating intake and output, and shift totals.
- Assists with patient admission and discharge, setting up special equipment, and performing device care.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, and other members of the healthcare team, maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Follows institutional infection control guidelines and participates in patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Currently enrolled in good academic standing in an accredited pre-licensure MSN, BSN, or ADN program with a passing grade in Fundamentals/Foundations of Nursing (transcript required).
- Current BLS card (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required.
- Previous experience preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of universal blood and body fluid precautions and aseptic technique.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
- Effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Benefits
Compensation: PRN; Rotating Shifts - ED (7a-7p / 11a-11p / 7p-7a) Pay Range: $17.00/hr. (Flat)
Other Compensation: Shift Differential
