Student - Lighting Student Technician SOA

Summary Of Responsibilities

This position supports the specific areas of scenic, lighting, and sound design. From this position, we assign applicants to the production area they have experience or desire.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

• Must be a current UVU student
• Knowledge Of Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of scenic elements (helpful, but not required)
  • Arithmetic, algebra, and geometry (required for the execution of plans and drawings)
  • Basic shop safety rules and procedure
• Skills In:
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a specific task
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Quickly move and coordinate fingers, limbs, and body to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects
  • Erector maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
  • Apply general rules to specific problems and produce answers that make sense
  • Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
