STUDENT LIFE COUNSELOR (School Social Worker)

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients within the Southgate School.
• Primary responsibility for treatment and discharge planning.
• Interface with community agencies and referral sources throughout the client's course of treatment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, reaching while working with patients/residents/students.
• Full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.
• Ability to perform CPR and first aid.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write.
• Ability to visually supervise students & hear requests for assistance from students and staff.
• Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of personal computer.
• Able to complete required paperwork according to established protocol and regulatory agency requirements.
• Maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with clients and families.
• Act professionally in high stress situations.
• Provide timely data needed for students IEP goals and attend students monthly staffing's, IEP meetings, school meetings, and other meetings as requested.

Experience/Education

• Prefer Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Masters Social Worker (MSW) and hold School Social Worker (SSP) license or be eligible, in the state of Colorado in good standing with Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
• Also requires CDE licensure current Colorado Department of Education Provisional Special Services Licensure (PSSL) with the School Social Worker Endorsement.
• One year clinical experience working with children and adolescents preferred.

Staff Development Requirements

• Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.
