Student Internship
About the role
Southwest Behavioral & Health Services (SBH) invites on-campus and online students to join a respected provider of Integrated Behavioral Health Services. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience across our statewide locations. SBH offers unpaid internships for students whose academic programs require them during the spring, summer, and fall terms. Under the supervision of licensed professionals, you will develop practical skills and knowledge in a multidisciplinary environment. This valuable experience will empower you to contribute effectively in your workplace and local network.
Responsibilities
- Support crisis intervention efforts
- Aid in therapy and skill groups
- Document service delivery
- Provide case management support
- Help with assessments and treatment plan documentation
- Collaborate actively with the clinical team
- Engage in educational plan-related tasks
- Participate in Counseling Services (for graduate students only)
Requirements
You must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and must be at least 18 years old (some roles require a minimum of 21). Internship must be required by your degree program and eligible for academic credit. Must pass a drug test and complete other onboarding steps. Must have or obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card (cost borne by the intern). Some placements may require physical and TB testing.
Qualifications
Must adhere to SBH’s work schedules, policies, and professional conduct standards. Independently manage your academic responsibilities. Attend required SBH training sessions (typically 1–2 weeks during business hours, depending on placements).
Skills
None specifically listed, but practical skills in crisis intervention, therapy, and case management are developed through supervised experience.
Benefits
Includes support for students in eligible grant programs, training in case management, crisis intervention, activity planning, and counseling, and opportunities to expand current skills and prepare for future roles.
Pay
Unpaid internship.
