STUDENT INTERN - TSM (BEULAH)

About the role

This position is at the TSM Beulah location in Beulah, ND. It is a temporary summer 2027 role (approximately May 17, 2027 through August 20, 2027) assisting Transmission System Maintenance (TSM) system protection technicians, substation electricians, and telecom technicians.

Responsibilities

• File prints at substation and shop locations.
• File test records.
• Assist with testing relays.
• Assist with The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Protection and Control (PRC-005) testing.
• Assist with inspections, repairs and testing of substation equipment.
• Assist with inspections, repairs and testing of telecom equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, climbing, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. It requires finger dexterity, good hearing and color vision, and the ability to perform close work. The incumbent must be able to analyze data/reports and conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures, and goals; and present information to others. Work may be performed under pressure due to conflicting priorities and deadlines. Occasional exposure to dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. May require work at heights up to 50 feet with safety equipment (harness) per ANSI Z359 standards. Occasional travel may be required by car or cooperative/commercial plane. Equipment operated includes computers, various control devices, electrical test equipment, and normal shop tools.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Electronic/Electrical Technology or related program with two semesters completed, or recent graduate (within the past 12 months); or enrolled in or recently completed a certificate program in a related field (within the past 12 months).
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Transcript required at time of application; applications without transcript will not be reviewed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship or relevant work experience.
• Additional certifications or coursework in field of study.
