About the role
The Y-12 National Security Complex is currently recruiting for summer 2027 internship opportunities in Engineering disciplines including Civil Engineering. The Internship Program is a 10–12 week program offering challenging assignments, projects, and career development workshops to enhance professional growth. You will earn a competitive salary based on your discipline and academic class status. The 2027 intern program runs from May 24, 2027 to July 29, 2027.

Requirements
- Working toward or have completed a degree in Engineering or a relevant Physical Science (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science) from an ABET-accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or ABET’s list of substantially equivalent programs
- Up to two years post-graduation eligibility for students who have graduated
- Completed at least the sophomore year of college
- Overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above
- United States citizenship
Clearance and Compliance
- Requires a Q clearance; ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required
- Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP)
- If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10 CFR 709
