Student Graphic Designer position within the Off-Campus Life department at Colorado State University. Anticipated start date: 9/17/2026. Part-time role with approximately 18 hours per week.
About the Role
The Graphic Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining the Off-Campus Life brand through the design of all marketing materials, including print and digital assets, as well as physical display construction and event decorations. This role also involves curating content for marketing channels such as LSC screens and social media.
Responsibilities
- Design all graphic materials for Off-Campus Life programming, including Housing Fair, Fall Clean Up, RamRide, and other events.
- Create and maintain designs for:
- Print ads and quarter sheets
- T-shirts
- Web ads
- White boards and display cases
- Other designs as needed
- Maintain proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Update file types and sizes for various media.
- Perform front desk/reception duties, including answering phones, tracking statistics, assisting customers, and maintaining office cleanliness.
- Develop and implement the annual Off-Campus Life Marketing Calendar in collaboration with supervisors and the Student Coordinator team.
- Provide exceptional customer service and accurate information to students regarding office services, renting in Fort Collins, city codes, neighborhood relations, and more (in-person, over the phone, via email, or virtual communication).
- Apply working knowledge of programs such as Party Registration and RentalSearch.
- Actively participate in office programs (e.g., Roommate Meet & Matches, RamRide Food Ops) and presentations (e.g., orientations, resource fairs).
- Work occasional evening, early morning, and weekend commitments as needed.
Requirements
- Accepted for enrollment as a regular degree-seeking student at CSU in good academic and disciplinary standing.
- Commitment to the position for one academic year, including attendance at bi-weekly staff meetings (Wednesdays, 4-5 PM during the '26-'27 academic year).
- Working knowledge of InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with proper printing practices (e.g., bleeds, proofs, RGB vs. CMYK, resolution/DPI/PPI).
- Knowledge of document extensions and their practical use (.jpeg, .tiff, .pdf, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both individually and on a team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a busy environment.
- Openness to handling constructive criticism.
- Commitment to working with diverse populations, identities, and experiences.
- Excellent creativity and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree or having a strong interest in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design.
- Experience with website design and updates, including HTML/CSS.
- Digital photography experience (familiarity with Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.).
- Experience presenting to groups of varying sizes.
- Experience in writing and editing copy.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Knowledge of Off-Campus Life programs and events.
- Possession of a Driver’s License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.
