Student Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment and assist the City Engineering department
• Coordinate with other City departments
• Assist engineering with infrastructure projects such as water, sewer, and drainage
• Be a motivated and dependable student with relevant coursework
• Report to the City Engineer or his designee
• Work in a typical office environment using computers and a desk
• Field work includes construction sites, exposure to the elements, and utility inspections
• Assist engineering department on office activities like drawing and specification development
• Create figures for reports and presentations in GIS
• Edit and prepare drawings on AutoCAD software
• Complete other Engineering/administrative tasks as needed
• Conduct field work including construction oversight, site investigations, and utility inspections
• Mark out utilities in the field

Qualifications

• Good communication skills
• Own transportation to and from work
• Experience dealing with the public
• Candidate for a degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Pass a Criminal Offender’s Record Information (CORI) test

Salary

$20.00 per hour

Hours

8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
