Student Employment Tutor Non-Certified, Portuguese (Part Time)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reliability, timeliness, and attention to detail.
• Increasing knowledge of Portuguese 1010 and 1020, 2010, 2020, and other Portuguese language-related topics, including teaching methods and course textbooks, materials, and assignments.
• Increasing competence in tutoring, focusing on textbook integration, identifying student levels of competence, and tailoring instruction to meet individual student needs and instructor expectations.
• Communicating effectively with a diverse range of people, maintaining good working relationships, and accommodating various abilities and backgrounds.
• Working with students during SLCC classes in the target language, as approved by the course instructor, to enhance familiarity with course materials and teaching methods.

Knowledge & Skills & Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds.
• Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Ability to work with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current student of SLCC.
• Language teaching or tutoring experience.
• Availability to attend SLCC classes in the target language, as approved by the course instructor.
