Student Employee-Academic Success Center-American Sign Language (ASL) Tutor

About the role

The Academic Success Center will support students in advancing their competencies in ASL. Tutoring sessions offered will be conducted either face-to-face or online to support individual requests or small-groups. The center may also provide support for dedicated lab hours and structured study sessions as needed to enhance learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

A typical day will include but is not limited to:

• Assisting students with study strategies
• Content review/interpretation
• Mastery in understanding/comprehension
• Facilitating language practice during lab hours
• Guiding collaborative learning during scheduled study sessions

Requirements

• 3.0 overall GPA (on 4.0 scale)
• "B" or better in ASL coursework
• Possess the potential and ability to develop language skills to students/peers
• Patience
