Student Assistant (Resource Sharing)
Overview
Auburn University Libraries seeks applicants for a Student Assistant position in the Resource Sharing unit. The selected student must be available to work during the unit’s hours of operation: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. This role supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with the daily operations of the unit. Student assistants may work up to 20 hours per week, based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve books and journals from library stacks
- Check materials out to partner institutions using Voyager (library management system)
- Update Resource Sharing and Document Delivery requests in ILLiad (transaction system)
- Scan journal articles for Resource Sharing and AubieExpress (Auburn users)
- Process articles available through Auburn Libraries’ electronic databases
- Pack materials for shipment via UPS and FedEx
- Open and sort incoming packages, including borrowed and returned materials
- Check returned items into Voyager and update corresponding records in ILLiad
- Use microfilm/microfiche reader-scanners to create PDF documents for electronic delivery
- Answer phones in a professional manner when needed
Qualifications
- Enrolled student at Auburn University
- Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours

Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform tasks that may include standing, walking, reaching, and handling materials
- Occasional lifting or moving items weighing up to 15 pounds
