About the role

The College of Coastal Georgia is located on the southeast Atlantic coast in Brunswick, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. It is an undergraduate college in the University System of Georgia with an additional outreach through the Camden Center in Kingsland, Georgia. The College provides an affordable and interactive education in the natural beauty and abundant sunshine of Georgia's Golden Isles, an area noted for world‑class golf courses and resorts as well as amazing diversity of maritime habitats, wildlife and sea creatures. The campus is located at One College Drive, Brunswick, GA 31520. This position is within the Facilities And Plant Operations department. It is a part‑time, temporary student role limited to a maximum of 19.5 hours per week. The work involves manual labor of a physically demanding nature, performing a variety of grounds and landscaping duties and assisting in event setups, sometimes in adverse climatic conditions. Most duties do not require a high degree of manipulative skill, but with experience employees may be assigned to more difficult semi‑skilled tasks. Work is closely supervised, with specific instructions given at the start of each workday. The weekly schedule is assigned by the supervisor in conjunction with the student's class schedule and is subject to change between semesters or as needed. Students may not work during scheduled class time, even if class is cancelled or dismissed early.

Responsibilities

• Pulling weeds, picking up debris, watering plants and caring for shrubs.
• May assist with loading and unloading trucks, moving furniture, and setting up for special events.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at all times.
• May not be employed in more than one job at a time on campus.

Skills

• Ability to effectively write and communicate.
• Ability to bend and stoop on a repetitive basis and to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Uphold a professional and positive attitude.

Pay

$9 per hour.

Schedule

Part‑time temporary position, maximum 19.5 hours per week. The weekly schedule is assigned by the supervisor in conjunction with the student's class schedule and is subject to change between semesters or as needed. Students may not work during scheduled class time, even if class is cancelled or dismissed early.
