Student Assistant - FWS - Shimberg Library
About the role
This position at the Shimberg Health Sciences Library requires student assistants to perform a variety of physical and social tasks, including customer service, facility maintenance, and support for library operations.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve, shift, and shelve books in correct order.
- Lift, rearrange, and move furniture and supplies.
- Conduct routine sweeps of the library to identify disturbances or security issues.
- Monitor doors to assist patrons attempting entry.
- Communicate instructions and questions clearly while following strict guidelines.
- Provide customer service in person, by phone, and electronically.
- Offer limited assistance to passport applicants.
- Assist with scanning and sending articles for interlibrary loans and communicate with ILL staff.
- Charge and discharge library materials for patrons.
- Monitor, approve, and check out study rooms, explaining policies to patrons.
- Provide basic assistance with library resources, such as the catalog and databases, and direct patrons to other staff when necessary.
- Support library staff with projects and events.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Must be degree-seeking and actively enrolled at least half-time at USF.
- Must be SAP eligible for federal financial aid (FAFSA will be evaluated for financial need).
