Student Affairs Specialist
Position Summary
This is a professional position, charged with managing and assisting with various student services functions. These will include but may not be limited to data collection and dissemination, verification and creation of policy and procedures of Student Services affairs, and original composition of materials and documents for the Dean of Students/Director of Student Services. This position will serve as administrative support for all departments within Student Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two years’ experience in a college/university setting or Associate’s Degree with a minimum of five years’ direct administrative/front desk experience.
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Confident in conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies
Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
Experience in a fast-paced work environment
Preferred Qualifications
Student Services experience in a higher education setting
Experience using a college/university-level student information management system such as Banner
Council experience

Job Duties And Other Information
Student Services Support & Front Desk Operations – 35%
- Function as front counter personnel; provide primary phone support; and assist in appropriate triage of student needs.
- Proactively and positively greet and assist all visitors, students, parents, service workers, and community members.
- Answer routine questions regarding enrollment processes, financial aid, programs of study, and Student Services policies and procedures through email, phone calls, and walk-in traffic.
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve customer issues while maintaining confidentiality of student and parent financial and personal information.
- Provide student ID assistance.
- Maintain current literature and information in lobby areas, student lounge bulletin boards, internal TV monitors, and external marquee communications.
Student Records, Data Entry & Communication – 35%
- Receive, scan, upload, and process various student records and documentation in accordance with college procedures.
- Conduct outbound call campaigns to prospective and current students regarding admissions, enrollment, registration, retention, and student success initiatives.
- Aid in coordination and dissemination of campus-wide Student Services communications and informational materials.
Administrative & Departmental Support – 15%
- Acts as administrative liaison to Student Services staff and informs supervisor on matters to be considered.
- Initiate timely completion of supply orders, purchase requisitions, IT support tickets, and routine departmental requests.
- Aid and coordinate closely with campus constituencies across all locations including Academic Affairs, Business Office, Faculty, Administration, Workforce, and WorkReady U to ensure consistency and visibility of communication and services.
- Aid in coordination of student worker duties, training, and schedules.
Campus Engagement & Event Support – 10%
- Aid in campus tours, open house events, recruitment activities, and other campus events as directed.
- Support student engagement and outreach initiatives sponsored by Student Services.
Professional Development & Other Duties – 5%
- Facilitate and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
