Student Advisor Key Relationships

- Track student attendance and contact absent students after two consecutive days of non-attendance, and document contact activities.
- Monitor high risk students and contact students to assist with academic needs.
- Meet regularly with Student Success Manager or Campus Director of Education if no Student Success Manager and other appropriate staff to review student progress.
- Facilitate student success with academic coaching and creating individual action plans for students to keep them on track academically.
- Assist returning students through re-enter process.
- Making sure students currently on academic warning/probation or who are potential academic warning/probation students are supported.
- Working to assist students through the SAP Appeal process.
- Complying with all SAE policy and procedures.
- Aiding in the planning and execution of student events, including Orientation, Re-Entry Orientation, and Graduation.
- Aiding in student engagement activities, including campus clubs, as assigned by the Student Success Manager, Campus Director of Education if no Student Success Manager.
- Facilitating student success with academic skill coaching.
- Collaborating with campus leadership to facilitate and improve services to students.
- Other duties as required.
- Absorbed an Associate’s Degree or higher and two years of experience in a higher education environment with a student advising function.
- Communicated effectively in English, both orally (in one-on-one and group settings) and in writing.
- Knew how to keep records of students in a higher education setting.
- Established and maintained good working relationships with staff, faculty, and students.
- Worked with various groups of people, individually and as a group.
- Communicated effectively with people at all levels in the organization.
- Remained productive during periods of change. Took initiative to mitigate challenges and obstacles as needed; being action-oriented.
- Worked collaboratively with people throughout the organization.
- Continuously looked for ways to simplify and improve work processes to achieve better results.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Candidate must have working knowledge of student database system, student learning management system, and Microsoft Office Suite products.

Additional Information
This is a full-time campus, on-site based position. Work Schedule requirements require Two weekday evenings until 7:00p.m. Schedule to be approved by Director of Education and Dean of Education and Career Services. Hourly rate $24 to $26. This is a benefit-eligible position.

Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
