About the role

The Structures Lead reports to the Project Manager and oversees, directs, and advises Structures Technicians to execute their work in accordance with task requirements, Repair Station procedures, and regulatory standards. The role ensures compliance with FAA/EASA regulations and OEM MPDs, prioritizing safety and delivering high-quality, timely maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper scanning of Task Cards and technician information for time-keeping purposes.
  • Direct and supervise Structures Technicians, guiding them to complete tasks in accordance with Task Cards, MPDs, and Repair Station Manual.
  • Coach and mentor Technicians to achieve excellence in workmanship and efficiency, ensuring timely re-delivery of aircraft.
  • Secure commitment and accountability across all levels of the team.
  • Schedule and oversee work shifts to meet project plans and timelines.
  • Aid in creating Shift turnover instructions and Work Interruption logs.
  • Monitor and allocate Man Hours and materials to ensure efficient use.
  • Supervise maintenance, repair, and modifications on airframe components and assemblies.
  • Perform layout work, including cutting, drilling, and forming sheet metal.
  • Oversee fabrication of sheet metal from raw stock.
  • Work closely with Inspectors to prevent delays and ensure accurate work completion.
  • Support Project Manager in managing tool requests and consumption.
  • Verify proper tagging of aircraft components and maintain documentation accuracy.
  • Report incidents and tool issues to Quality Assurance & Safety.
  • Communicate progress and address any project roadblocks to the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance & Safety and Training Specialist to develop OJT programs.
  • Participate in regular progress meetings and development training.
  • Interact professionally with customers and ensure all personnel behave appropriately.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and efficiently.
  • Support the Project Manager with other business activities as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Current FAA Airframe certificate held for at least 3 years.
  • At least 3 years of structures maintenance experience on large aircraft with an Air Carrier, Commercial Operator, or Certified Repair Station.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Basic knowledge of reading and understanding sketches, drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
