About the role
The Bridges and Structures Section Manager will lead and grow our structures team. They will manage staff, deliver project submissions, develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and mentor less-experienced staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage structures staff and ensure project profitability
- Develop and implement project management systems
- Select, train, and develop technical personnel
- Coordinate with other Section Managers to balance staff workload and pursue business development opportunities
- Lead multi-disciplined transportation design teams as a Project Manager or Project Engineer
- Perform technical design for DOT and local agency highway bridges, including bridge load ratings
- Drive business development efforts within Mechanicsburg, including marketing planning and client management
- Mentor less-experienced staff and act as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design
- Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance the project delivery team throughout project development
- Conduct analyses, develop design solutions, and prepare design drawings, calculations, and specifications for bridge engineering projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years experience in bridge/structural design
- Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects
- Proficiency with MicroStation and typical structural analysis programs and bridge design software used in the industry
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil Engineering, MS degree in Structural Engineering
- PE in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within six months of hire
