About the Role
This role can be based in Singapore or Hong Kong. Our Markets Traders identify, analyse, and execute opportunities in the market, supporting the needs of our clients in a professional and fully compliant way. Our Markets business aims to become the leading emerging markets fixed income, financing, and securities service franchise, and a leader in sustainable finance, advisory, trading, and asset servicing.
Responsibilities
- Strategy: Work to implement the strategy of the desk for profitable trading at acceptable risk.
- Business:
- Partner with Sales, Structuring, and other trading teams to maximise the bank’s revenues and achieve the assigned full-year budget.
- Provide accurate and timely pricing for interest rate derivatives to meet the needs of both internal and external clients at competitive prices.
- Transact trades to hedge risk and generate revenues by leveraging market flows and opportunities.
- Expand the current product offering through the testing and implementation of new trading models.
- Manage the portfolio risk generated by adhering to approved risk limits and seeking excess approvals where necessary.
- Establish and maintain a network of relationships with other SCB Global Market centres to identify opportunities for business growth.
- Processes:
- Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.
- Embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process.
- Carry out assigned roles under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance.
- Ensure the business meets its obligations for the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy, Standards, and local laws.
- Ensure appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures are in place, monitor their operation, and review them regularly.
- People and Talent:
- Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.
- Set appropriate tone and expectations for the team and collaborate with risk and control partners.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and sharing of best practices.
- Employ, engage, and retain high-quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, monitor, control, and mitigate risks to the Group.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role in managing them.
- Interpret the Group’s financial information, identify key issues, and implement appropriate controls.
- Comply with guidelines as outlined in the annual dealer mandate.
- Governance:
- Assess the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, and controls.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework and requirements relevant to the role.
- Speak up in the event of any realised or perceived breach of group conduct rules or laws by colleagues.
- Deliver ‘effective governance’, challenge fellow executives, and work cooperatively with regulators.
- Regulatory and Business Conduct:
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct.
- Identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Embed the Group’s brand and values for Financial Markets globally.
- Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Master of Finance – Financial Engineering or equivalent.
- 7+ years’ experience in trading structured rates products, preferably in Asia.
- Project and time management skills to monitor multiple workstreams and take ownership of issues/tasks.
- Ability to work in a team and diverse work environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working with and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Flexible and resilient mindset to deal with a dynamic and fast-changing setting.
