Structured Cabling - Technician (MA)

Superior Communication Services is hiring a Structured Cabling Technician who builds it the first way. You'll be the one running copper and fiber through telecom rooms and risers on commercial jobsites across the country, work that doesn't show up on a tour but holds up everything that does. Responsibilities

• Rough in and terminate copper and fiber cabling
• Run pathway supports such as J-hooks, ladder trays, and conduit
• Build out telecom rooms and equipment closets: backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures
• Test everything installed with certification equipment (Fluke DSX or equivalent)
• Troubleshoot cable plant issues in live commercial environments
• Perform telecom room buildouts, rack and stack, cable plant maintenance, and full install/terminate/test on copper and fiber

Requirements

• Experience installing structured cabling in commercial environments
• Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A copper installation, termination, and testing
• Fiber optic installation, termination, and testing (OM/OS fiber types a plus)
• Ability to run RG6/RG11 coax distribution
• Working knowledge of telecom room and rack/stack builds
• Comfort reading blueprints and riser diagrams
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to travel to national job sites as needed
• Ability to lift and carry equipment and work in tight spaces (ceilings, crawl spaces, closets)
• Preferred: 1 year of cabling experience
• Required: Driver's license
• Required: Ability to commute to Framingham, MA 01701
• Preferred: Willingness to travel 50%

Qualifications

• BICSI certification (RCDD, Installer 1/2, Technician)
• Fusion splicing experience
• Manufacturer certifications with Panduit, Legrand, CommScope, or Corning
• Background in sports team leadership (captain, coach, team leader in competitive sports)

Skills

• Ability to distinguish between a bad termination and a bad test result and fix it before it becomes someone else's problem
• Comfortable working independently once the job scope is known
• Strong commitment to clean cable management as well as functional connections
• Reliable, punctual, and unwilling to cut corners when unsupervised
