Position Overview

The Structural Welding & Fabrication Technician is responsible for producing high-quality fabricated steel components and assemblies used in industrial construction and commercial construction applications. This role combines MIG welding, blueprint interpretation, metal fabrication, assembly support, and quality inspection responsibilities within a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience performing MIG (GMAW) welding
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools, shop equipment, and measuring instruments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Able to work independently and as part of a production team
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Welding Certification
  • Experience with structural steel fabrication
  • Prior experience building custom equipment, machinery, or industrial components
  • Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or material handling equipment
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, industrial construction, or commercial construction environments

Work Environment

  • Exposure to welding fumes, dust, sparks, and industrial equipment
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • Working around moving machinery and material-handling systems
  • Overtime opportunities during peak production periods
  • Occasional outdoor work related to loading, staging, or material movement

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the shop for extended periods
  • Ability to safely lift, position, and move fabrication materials
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in various physical positions
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
