The Structural Welder performs high-quality, code-compliant welds on structural steel components, plate, and miscellaneous supports. This role requires precision in fitting and welding to meet the load-bearing and alignment requirements of heavy industrial facility construction.
Responsibilities
- Independently execute groove and fillet welds on structural members (beams, columns, bracing) in all positions.
- Primarily use FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and/or SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) processes.
- Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, detailing the assembly and required weld symbols.
- Work closely with Structural Fitters to ensure fit-up and alignment meet dimensional tolerances prior to welding.
- Ensure all structural welds comply with the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
