Structural Welder (2nd Shift)

About the role

Crown Technical Systems, a Flex Company, is a leader in power distribution and protection systems, specializing in sophisticated relay and control panels, medium voltage switchgear, and enclosures (power/control buildings/E‑Houses). The company offers hands‑on training, mentorship, and a culture of internal promotion. The Structural Welder will report to the Structural Welding Supervisor and fabricate framing for sheet‑metal enclosure buildings by welding structural steel (c‑channels) using the FCAW process.

Responsibilities

• Plan work order procedures and gather required tools and materials based on provided instructions and specifications.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly.
• Weld structural steel (c‑channels) in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using appropriate welding techniques and equipment.
• Clamp, hold, or tack‑weld parts to achieve required configurations and positions for welding.
• Determine required equipment and welding techniques, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding processes.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Notify the supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or at least 2 years of experience in dual‑shield welding process.
• Certification required: AWS D1.1 FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding).

Physical Requirements

• Pass a respirator fit test.
• Wear required PPE (respirator, welding equipment, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection) on the production floor.
• Ability to weld components in vertical, flat, or overhead positions.
• Manual dexterity and stability for precision work.
• Ability to see details at close range.
• Lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
• Traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Schedule

2nd shift: Monday – Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM.
