About the role

Ironworker - Build What Lasts

Responsibilities

  • Set steel and precast with the crew: columns, beams, joists, bridging, stairs, and metal decking.
  • Connect, bolt, and weld structural members into place.
  • Rig loads, signal the crane operator, and direct material flow on the deck.
  • Read plans, specifications, and shop drawings to lay out work accurately.
  • Unload and stack steel; place building materials to support the day's scope.
  • Take ownership of safety on every task. Speak up early. Look out for the crew.
  • Train newer ironworkers as you advance.

Requirements

  • One to three years of steel or precast erection experience.
  • Comfort working at heights and in outdoor conditions year-round.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, and evidence of insurability preferred.
  • AWS 1.1 (3G, 4G ¾") welding certification on the SMAW process is a plus, not a requirement. We will help you earn it.
  • Equipment experience with man-lift, scissor lift, or forklift preferred.
  • Must be 18 or older to safely work in a construction environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Move about on foot consistently across job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces.
  • Work at heights and in outdoor weather conditions year-round.
  • Inspect details at close range and communicate accurately on the deck.
  • Lift and transfer materials from ground to overhead consistently; move material up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Safely use hand and power tools.
