Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator

Location: Arlington, TN Job Type: Full-Time Pay: Starting at $21.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience 2nd Shift Differential: Additional 10% Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available | Some Saturdays Required Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator to build and assemble structural steel components in a busy fabrication shop. This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, accurate layout and fit-up abilities, and experience working safely with heavy steel and fabrication equipment. Responsibilities Read structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout detailsFit and assemble beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metalsPerform measuring, layout, cutting, fitting, and assemblyOperate ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other shop equipmentTack and prepare steel assemblies for welding and final productionUse overhead cranes, rigging, and material-handling equipment safelyVerify dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up before weldingMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while meeting production schedules Requirements 2+ years of structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferredAbility to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawingsExperience with structural layout, fit-up, and fabrication processesKnowledge of fabrication tools, measuring devices, and shop equipmentAbility to work with heavy materials and stand for extended periodsOverhead crane and rigging experience preferredStrong attention to detail, safety, and teamwork Requirements 2+ years of structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferredAbility to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawingsExperience with structural layout, fit-up, and fabricationKnowledge of fabrication tools, measuring equipment, and shop machineryAbility to handle heavy materials and stand for extended periodsOverhead crane and rigging experience preferredStrong attention to detail, safety, and teamwork Preferred Experience Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) experience in structural steel fabricationAbility to produce clean, strong FCAW welds on structural steelExperience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
