Structural Steel Field Engineer
Job Summary
The selected candidate will initially be placed on one of our four Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, but we may also require the selected candidate to have future mobility to one of our other Global Business Units in a different location.
Major Responsibilities
Work Planning & Packaging
Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
Material Management
Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire
Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
Reviews and approves inspection test plans
Covers coordination reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education And Experience Requirements
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
Understanding of structural steel design and AISC code requirements.
Computer-literate in word processing, spreadsheet and Bechtel database applications.
Familiar with current industry quality standards.
Knowledge of Project Technical Requests (PTR) for routing and resolving Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Documents (FCDs), and Non Conformance/Compliance Reports (NCRs) between project sites, contractors, clients, and home office.
Knowledge of work packaging.
Basic understanding of production management including scheduling.
Sound communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
Direct hire construction experience.
Additional Information
Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
Some lifting may be required.
Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
