About the Role
Salas O’Brien is seeking a licensed structural engineer to lead structural services in our New York City office. In this role, you will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside in-house architects and engineers. This position involves project management, staff management, engineering analysis, and managing subconsultants, including NYC Qualified Retaining Wall Inspectors (QWRI), Qualified Exterior Wall Inspectors (QEWI), civil engineers, and geotechnical engineers.
Responsibilities
- Structural and wind load analysis.
- Structural support systems for mechanical equipment in existing buildings.
- Assessment of potential structural damage or defects in existing buildings.
- Analysis and/or preparation of models and calculations for various structural elements and systems.
- Contract document development including construction drawings and written specifications.
- Construction administration including review of shop drawings, RFI, and site inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
- 7+ years experience in structural design and project administration.
- Professional Engineering license in NY is required.
- Rooftop PV and Dunnage structural analysis experience.
- Experience with NYC existing buildings and project management.
- Working knowledge of NYC Building Codes.
- Good communication and management skills.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and construction administration services.

Pay
The expected base salary range for this role is $135,000 - $155,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, project experience, and qualifications. This role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
