Structural Project Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Engineer-of-record for design and analysis of impactful engineering projects
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with seasoned professionals to enhance expertise
  • Lead structural design teams and oversee multi-discipline projects
  • Prepare technical memorandums and write clear internal and external communications
  • Develop budgets and schedules for complex tasks and mentor others
  • Interact with clients during project meetings and resolve issues
  • Perform seismic analysis and design on Risk Category III and IV structures
  • Break down complex projects into manageable tasks and prepare structural calculation books
  • Manage file organization and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets
  • Lead complex technical reports and reviews of engineering reports
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members
  • Handle disciplinary actions and terminate employees as necessary

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in primary state of practice or able to obtain licensure within six months
  • Structural Engineer certification preferred but not required
  • Advanced understanding of structural analysis software (RISA, ENERCALC, SAP2000, L-Pile, PYWall)
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D CAD software
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals and governing codes
  • Expertise in seismic analysis and design of Risk Category III and IV structures
  • Ability to communicate effectively and handle client interactions
  • Proficiency in technical writing and preparing detailed technical specifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with project delivery and budgeting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; 5 years with advanced degree
