Structural Project Engineer
Primary Function
Performs detailed phases of design engineering work for a project of moderate size and complexity (e.g., assignment involving a single engineering discipline).
The incumbent must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of design engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Primary Duties
- Perform analysis and detailed design of bridges and miscellaneous roadway structures, which conform with acceptable design standards, and which meet the specific requirements of the Florida Department of Transportation or the Federal Highway Administration.
- Prepare engineering calculations and engineering sketches and review drawings and BIM Models.
- Manage multiple projects and assume responsibility for project execution within required timeframes.
- Perform and assist in QA/QC of final design packages prior to issuing for construction.
- Communicate with staff and clients to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis.
- Providing both written and verbal reports to tight deadlines regarding multiple projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida is strongly desired or the ability to obtain your PE License within 6 months of hire
- 6+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering on Transportation/Roadway projects
- Proven proficiency utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment
