About the role
The Structural Project Engineer applies established structural engineering principles to plan, design, and develop buildings and other structures. This role directs all aspects of assigned engineering projects and provides oversight, guidance, and mentorship to the project team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Provide direction, guidance, and mentoring to staff, including both technical and soft skills development.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and best practices across all assigned work.
- Review and check engineering calculations and design documents, providing training when necessary.
- Maintain and advance technical knowledge in current technologies, design techniques, regulations, materials, and specifications.
- Monitor industry advances and recommend relevant training for the department.
- Utilize BIM software to develop design documents directly or with assistance from the project team.
- Review shop drawings and specifications, and prepare construction cost estimates.
- Perform QA/QC procedures and enforce quality control throughout all project phases.
- Ensure compliance with Project Delivery standards related to design and implementation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- 10–15 years of engineering design experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and constraints.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
