Structural Practice Lead - Hydraulic Structures

Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Practice Lead - Hydraulic Structures. This position offers the flexibility to work a hybrid or fully remote schedule at the discretion of the company. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in structural engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

About the Role

This position will provide technical expertise and collaborate with our existing network of dam engineering professionals to help grow our national Dams and Hydraulic Structures Engineering practice and contribute to innovative and challenging projects involving heavy-civil works and hydraulic structures.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and mentor with experienced professionals to integrate into Geosyntec’s culture.
• Work on challenging technical projects while leveraging existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its practices and capabilities through business development and client management.
• Develop and coordinate a regional business strategy for Dams and Hydraulic Structures.
• Establish and maintain relationships with potential clients.
• Identify and track clients and opportunities.
• Aid in recruitment of top talent to assemble a talented, multi-disciplinary team.
• Leverage existing and establish new relationships with potential teaming partners.
• Work with marketing staff for the preparation of marketing materials.
• Lead the preparation of technical proposals.
• Participate in professional organizations and activities.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for Dams and Hydraulic Structures projects in various technical areas.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Requirements

• At least 10 years (15+ preferred) of relevant experience with dam engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Detailed understanding of Regulations and Guidelines including USACE, USBR, NRCS, FERC, and state agencies, and best practices by ASDSO, USSD, etc.
• Knowledge of Risk-Informed-Decision-Making (RIDM) methodologies such as USACE, FERC, and Reclamation.
• Previously approved as Part 12D Independent Consultant by FERC.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel for site visits, inspections, and other business-related meetings or conferences.
• Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients, with overnight travel.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on structural engineering.
• Advanced degree in the same or related field (preferred).
• Professional registration (i.e., PE or SE.) (required).
