Structural MT Grinder Entry Level & Semi-Skilled

About the role

Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Grinder Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines.

Responsibilities

• Working with various metals and pipes to be formed within a high degree of tolerances
• Using a variety of pneumatic grinding tools to prepare a wide range of steel and alloy structures and pipe for welding and to finish welds
• Grinding preparations include removal of paint, edge bevels on steel, clean jagged edges, grind welds flush and cut and bevel various diameter pipes

Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma/GED, or be a current High School Senior or 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• Must be available to work any shift

Qualifications

• Required: Must have a High School Diploma/GED, or be a current High School Senior or 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• Preferred: Vocational, technical colleges, apprentice programs, Military, shipbuilding, manufacturing and automotive experience

Skills

• Candidate must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, drawings and diagrams
• Willing to accept road job assignments
• Willing to obtain elevated NDT qualifications, Limited Magnetic Particle Inspection, Visual Inspection etc
• Willing to learn to grind pipe

Physical Qualifications

• Climbing, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting

Environmental Attributes

• Acids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet

Pay

• Hourly Rates from $24.28 - $30.13
