Description ARMADA INC. Position Description TITLE: Structural Foreman REPORTS TO: Superintendent FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt FT / PT STATUS: Full Time LOCATION: Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities Summary Oversees welding operations on designated projects, ensuring work meets industry standards and client expectations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in welding and cutting of products and structuresAnalyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations requiredRequisitions supplies, such as weld rods, weld wire, gases, and fixturesInspects work to maintain specified standards and qualityTrains workers in operation of equipmentSet up machines and make trial weldsSupervise fitting and assembly of structural framesEnsure that equipment is being properly handled, protected and maintainedPrepare records and reports about subordinates and tasks being carried out on the projectWork withi prescribed budgets and maintain job cost controlReview and submit timesheets for assigned crewPerforms other related duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Directing various number of employees in a productive and safe mannerTraining, planning, assigning and directing workConduct Performance evaluations, providing recommendations for promotion and salary adjustmentsHandles or escalates disciplinary matters, including performance, conduct, attendance, and workplace concerns, in partnership with HR and in accordance with company policy.Escalates and assists with employee relations matters and employment decisions, including terminations, in partnership with HR and in accordance with company policy. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes Thorough understanding of SMAW and GMAW-flux coreAbility to read and interpret documents such as opearating and procedure manualsKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goodsKnowledge of welding machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of business and management principles involved in planning work, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resourcesFamiliarity with the metric systemExcellent attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate with team members for productivity and efficiencyUnderstanding of safety protocols and regulations Education And Experience Highschool Diploma or EquivalentFormal or informal on the job training1+ years supervisory experienceOSHA 10 Maritime Standards (Company may provide) Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squattingAbility to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overheadAbility to climb stairs and laddersSome travel may be required EQUIPMENT USED Phone, Computer, measuring instruments, welding instruments, cutting equipmentThis is a general list and is not all inclusive.
