Position Summary
PS&S is seeking a talented Structural Field Engineer with 7+ years' experience to join our firm. The PS&S structural department works on buildings, bridges, and other structures of all sizes and construction types, from steel-framed warehouses to masonry retaining walls to 20+ story reinforced concrete towers. This position could be based in our Cherry Hill, Wall or Warren, NJ offices. Frequent travel to Atlantic City and all shore areas will be required, in addition to North Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and lower New York on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Field observation and documentation programs involving buildings of all types and construction materials.
- Special attention is focused on concrete framed structures, considering their exposure to problematic conditions.
- Field inspection efforts may involve sub-contracted work to obtain material specimens for laboratory testing.
- Coordination of specialty contractors and laboratory technicians.
- QA and QC review of reports is performed for independent work and the work of others to maintain consistency with information presentation and to determine general compliance with standards such as ASTM E-2018, Property Condition Assessments.
- Performs design and detailing of basic structures.
- Attends project meetings.
- Perform scope reviews for future projects.
- Preparation of a job hazard analysis or health and safety plan as needed.
- Maintain updates to building code manuals along with other administrative duties.
Qualifications And Requirements
- B.S. Civil or Architectural Engineering from an accredited school
- PE license preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office required, Revit preferred
- Proficiency in Bentley RAM software suite and CSI SAFE (or similar concrete finite element software) preferred
- Excellent organization, oral, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of local and national design codes, including the International Building Code, AASHTO, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and NDS
- IBC special inspections certifications for concrete and steel preferred, but not required
