About the role

Join our team for Summer 2026 as a Structural Engineer Intern and gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers and project managers. You’ll contribute to real projects such as schools, water treatment plants, universities, and environmental structures, and develop your technical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural analysis and design calculations under supervision of licensed engineers.
  • Help draft and review drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals.
  • Lead construction observation and site reports on inter-discipline projects.
  • Assist with tasks including data entry, filing and scanning, record entry, and miscellaneous administrative responsibilities.
  • Review construction submittals for conformance with project plans and specs.

Requirements

  • Basic completion of at least one semester toward a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of at least 4 semesters toward a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Experience using Revit and/or AutoCAD for design production.
  • Experience using structural design software such as RAM, RISA, Enercalc, Mathcad, or others.
  • Active involvement in campus organizations and/or volunteer groups.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
