About the role

Coordinate and oversee the development of project plans, reports, permits, specifications, and cost estimates for projects such as bridges, utility adjustments, stream transitions, retaining walls, drainage structures, earth stabilization mitigation improvements, rockslide mitigation, and other concrete, steel, and timber structures.

Participate in the consultant selection process and contract negotiations. Maintain project administration by monitoring the project schedule, reviewing consultant invoices, and preparing contract amendments as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Develop project plans, reports, permits, specifications, and cost estimates for structural engineering projects.
• Oversee projects including bridges, utility adjustments, stream transitions, retaining walls, drainage structures, earth stabilization, rockslide mitigation, and other concrete, steel, and timber structures.
• Participate in consultant selection and contract negotiations.
• Monitor project schedules, review consultant invoices, and prepare contract amendments.

Requirements

• At time of application, must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
• Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty. Education verification: Provide a legible electronic copy of your diploma, official transcripts, and/or applicable foreign credential evaluation.
• Three years of work experience involving the use of non-registered professional structural engineering principles and techniques.
• Possession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii. Applicants with an out-of-state license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment. Verification: Submit a copy of your professional structural engineer license (Hawaii or out-of-state).
• Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile).
