About the Role
Design custom steel grain storage bins, ensuring safety and compliance. Collaborate with sales staff, provide technical advice, inspect project sites, and oversee the preparation of detailed engineering drawings. Coordinate design to designers and/or drafters for final design and manufacture.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with ten years of work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with fifteen years of work experience
- Professional Engineering licensure
- Experience with tower support structures for overhead catwalks, catwalks for agricultural conveying equipment, and support structures for elevated tanks
- Knowledge of building codes related to agricultural applications
- Basic understanding of agriculture and grain storage
- Proficiency in Solidworks or other solid modeling CAD software (RISA experience preferred)
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct the concepts, design, and execution of projects
- Interpret and apply building codes and design standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC)
- Calculate loads and stresses on structures, investigate member strength, and ensure structural safety
- Work with sales staff to engineer custom steel structures to specifications
- Coordinate design to designers/drafters for final design and manufacture
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and recommend repairs or modifications
- Check work for accuracy, including spelling, drawing format, dimensions, and conformance with engineering standards
- Conduct structure evaluations and forensic investigations
- Apply knowledge of bin foundation design to address foundation-related issues
- Mentor EITs in structural engineering
- Make critical engineering decisions with minimal oversight
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft O365
- Solidworks experience (preferred)
- Solidworks Enterprise PDM software experience
