About the role

The Senior Structural Engineer will lead structural design project teams to create world-class designs for various types of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. They will oversee the design process from concept to completion, adapt designs to budget constraints, and ensure designs meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Prepare structural equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  • Review structural vendor drawings; coordinate with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
  • Participate in project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning, and construction planning.
  • Manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of structural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Develop and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, customers, and contractors.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and present cost proposals and qualification statements.
  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Report project performance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the structural engineering practice.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Avoid non-compliance with company and site safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program with 7 years structural engineering experience, or
  • Bachelor Degree in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years structural engineering experience, or
  • Master Degree in Structural Engineering with 6 years structural engineering experience, or
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures, strong knowledge of structural design codes, strong computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience leading discipline design for large projects, ability to delegate work tasks, ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment, demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills, ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications, ability to travel, Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
