Responsibilities

  • Use Microstation/InRoads & ORD design software daily to support the design development process
  • Aid in the design of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and sign structures incorporating agency practices and AASHTO LRFD standards
  • Prepare design calculations and quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates
  • Aid in the completion of bridge construction plans and specifications
  • Perform project research and analyze/present data in tabular or graphic format
  • Contribute to engineering reports and technical studies
  • Conduct field visits during the design development process
  • Attend client, agency and public meetings to see the different phases of a project first-hand

Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team
  • Somewhat working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Microstation experience is a plus
  • Experience with structural design is a plus
  • Excellent organization, project management and communication skills both written and verbal along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural design
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience is preferred
  • Previous internship experience a plus
  • Engineering Intern (EI) designation preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire

Skills
