About the role
Bennett & Pless is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their team in Nashville, TN. This role focuses on leading the design and analysis of structural systems across various project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial developments, historic structures, adaptive reuse, and renovation work. The engineer will also mentor junior and mid-level staff, offering growth opportunities on both a technical specialist track and a leadership track.
Responsibilities
- Direct engagement with clients, architects, and contractors through meetings, review of structural documentation, and oversight of junior staff
- Lead structural design calculations, construction document preparation, shop drawing and submittal reviews, site observations, and responses to RFIs
- Cross-team coordination to ensure deliverables are on track and aligned with client expectations and company quality standards
- Perform QA/QC reviews of work prepared by others and support the technical development and career growth of the broader engineering team
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms, and take full ownership of assigned work while collaborating effectively across teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license
- Minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience with an emphasis on building design
- Project management experience or demonstrated capability
- Experience designing with steel, concrete, and masonry for low to mid-rise structures
- Proficiency with industry standard structural software such as Tekla Structural Designer, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, or Adapt
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred
- Prior people management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Revit preferred

$100,000 to $140,000 per year, based on experience
