Job Title: Structural Designer Location: Lockport, LA Position Overview: The Structural Designer develops detailed structural drawings and engineering deliverables based on technical specifications and work order instructions. This role ensures total compliance with engineering standards, prepares Bills of Materials (BOM), and coordinates with cross-functional teams to optimize material availability and ease of manufacture. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed structural drawings based on applicable specifications and work order instructions.Ensure design products and engineering deliverables conform strictly to engineering design rules and customer specifications.Prepare accurate Bills of Material (BOM) to support project requirements.Consult with external vendors on project-related activities and specifications.Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture.Evaluate and align designs with contractual specifications and available materials. Experience Minimum of (1) years of structural design experience required within the shipbuilding industry OR associate’s degree in relevant field Extensive hands-on experience utilizing AutoCAD and 3D modeling using Ship Constructor software.Working knowledge of USCG, ABS, SOLAS, and other government shipbuilding standards (i.e., NVR, NAVSEA, MIL). Skills And Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills to deliver technical information clearly.Strong collaboration capabilities with a proven ability to work productively in a team environment.High level of autonomy with the ability to execute tasks effectively with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail regarding engineering compliance, manufacturing constraints, and regulatory standards.Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) for project documentation.
