Structural Designer
About the role
We are seeking a Structural Designer with strong CAD experience to support the design and development of large-scale steel structures associated with launch pads, towers, and related aerospace infrastructure. This individual will work closely with structural engineers and fabrication teams to develop detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and construction packages for complex structural systems. The ideal candidate has experience designing heavy steel structures, understands steel fabrication practices, and can independently create accurate production-ready drawings in NX CAD.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings for large-scale steel structures.
- Collaborate closely with structural engineers and fabrication teams to ensure designs meet project specifications.
- Create and manage production-ready drawings using NX CAD for complex structural systems.
- Design structural steel systems, including towers, platforms, and pipe racks.
- Generate accurate 2D drawings from 3D models.
- Interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications with precision.
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant structural steel detailing, weld symbols, bolted connections, and fabrication standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on NX CAD or relatable software doing Structural Design.
- Strong understanding of structural steel detailing and fabrication standards.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience in creating fabrication drawings and shop drawing packages.
- Proficiency in designing structural steel systems and heavy industrial structures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting aerospace, launch facilities, manufacturing plants, energy, oil & gas, industrial facilities, or large infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to launch pad, tower, gantry, or mission-critical structures.
- Familiarity with AISC steel standards and structural fabrication processes.
- Experience coordinating with fabricators and construction teams.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Teamcenter, Revit, Tekla, SolidWorks, or other modeling software.
- Field verification or construction support experience.
- Associate's Degree or Technical Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Work Environment
The work environment involves collaboration with structural engineers and fabrication teams using advanced CAD software. The role requires managing multiple design packages simultaneously, ensuring precision and attention to detail. Exposure to construction sites and field verification may be necessary. Familiarity with various modeling software and adherence to structural fabrication processes is essential.

This is a Contract position based out of Brownsville, TX. This is a fully onsite position in Brownsville, TX.
