Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and leadership as described below. This position oversees a specific area and represents the engineering discipline to ensure technical accuracy in project execution across all phases.

Job Duties

  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Serve as a design engineer under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, coordinating with other discipline and structural designers/drafters.
  • Analyze and recommend technical solutions to problems of advanced complexity in line with project requirements.
  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria, perform and check engineering analyses and calculations, specify materials, equipment, and systems, and solve technical problems of advanced complexity.
  • Coverage of technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
  • Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures, adhering to the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
  • Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
  • Manage material key quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
  • Support activities related to equipment and material procurement and subcontracting, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews.
  • Support activities related to construction administration, responding to construction requests for information and field changes.
  • Perform duties in accordance with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines as directed by supervisors and company policy.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 8 years of progressive and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more structural design software such as STAAD or STAADPro, analyzing complex structures, wind and seismic loading, concrete and foundation design, and computer modeling and analysis.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license or certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing and leading large projects.
  • Proficiency with project set-up, development of control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
  • Practical field experience.
  • EPC project experience in industries such as U.S. Department of Defense or other U.S. Federal Government Agencies, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology.
