About the role
AECOM is seeking a highly talented Structural Dam Safety Engineering Project Manager/Technical Lead to join the East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. Responsibilities
- Maintain client relationships, contract management, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management, and project team management including subcontractors.
- Client-facing role with ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of dam engineering projects and programs including business development and proposal preparation for new and existing clients.
- Lead the technical execution of projects including structural stability and strength analyses, structural design, Potential Failure Mode Analyses, Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments, site inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic concrete structures such as spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures.
- Plan, manage and lead field investigations for various hydraulic structures.
- Prepare and perform quality control reviews of other Engineer's work on deliverables such design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
- Build and maintain project schedules for delivering project success including the management of resources, budgets and risk.
- Plan, direct, supervise and lead multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work and business development part time as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing projects or completing project management activities such as maintain project budgets, schedule, staffing, quality control, and/or client relations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing proposals including preparing technical approaches and scopes of work, budgeting, and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to complete the Managing AECOM Projects training and receive the AECOM Project Manager certification.
- Experience with relevant software such as Microsoft Power BI and Project, Primavera P6, Bluebeam and project management information systems (PMIS) such as Procore and e-Builder, AutoCAD, Mathcad, STADD Pro and Ansys.
- Passion for mentoring junior staff and leadership – guiding our growing team of engineers to produce quality work and excellent client service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Project experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
- Approved FERC Independent Consultant (IC) or the ability to receive FERC approval to perform Part 12D Inspections.
- Experience performing risk assessments and Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMAs) related to dam design, construction, and operation.
