About the role

The Structural Certification Engineer II position on the Modification and Upgrade (MAU) team is a technical role focused on aircraft interiors requirements and certification. This role supports commercial seating products to certify and deliver modifications to TSOA seats and related furniture, ensuring compliance with federal and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical knowledge and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, certification, and program management, in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Conduct and witness testing, analysis, and design reviews to demonstrate compliance with structural and occupant injury requirements (e.g., 9g Static, 16g Dynamic, HIC, Mass Retention).
  • Generate and review compliance plans and documents to support TSO, PMA, and STC approvals.
  • Participate in training to develop talent and improve processes.
  • Collaborate across the organization to advance the values and vision of Collins Aerospace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Degree must be in one of the following disciplines: mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical, textile, or other relevant engineering fields (required by FAA agreement).
  • U.S. citizenship (required for program access).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of FAA, EASA rules, regulations, policy memos, guidance materials, and standards related to aircraft seat certification, with an emphasis on aircraft interiors.
  • Experience with TSO, PMA, STC, or TC qualification and certification processes, ideally as an ODA unit member.
  • Prior experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.
  • Experience reviewing and approving drawings and reports.
  • Familiarity with testing and substantiation for 9g Static, 16g Dynamic, HIC, and other structural/occupant injury requirements.
  • Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25.
  • Strong communication and technical skills.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
