About the role
The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck to move material between plants, warehouses, facilities, docks, or the mine in a safe manner obeying all rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation including maintaining a current valid Georgia Class A Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Operate truck in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-operational equipment checks and monitor truck performance and gauges during operation.
- Fuel and perform routine maintenance.
- Load truck while staying in compliance with environmental and safety guidelines and regulations.
- Utilize hand tools to make minor equipment adjustments.
- Keep areas clean and free of clutter.
- Follow all company, state and federal safety policies, rules and regulations.
- Read, comprehend, and act on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.
- Act in accordance with WE CARE and participate in improvement activities.
- Operate other heavy equipment utilized at the plant and in the mine after proper, documented training (excavator, tractor, dozers, haul trucks, backhoes, front-end loader, etc.).
- Perform other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, process, and procedures to uphold values and inherent to Oil-Dri.
Requirements
- Possess at least two years of driving experience.
- Possess clean DMV record—no points in last three years.
- Class A Driver’s license.
- Hazmat certification desirable.
- Ability to safely operate trucks and heavy equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Knowledge of hand tools.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate and control all necessary equipment to perform job functions.
- Carry/lift 50 lbs.
- Physical endurance to withstand heavy physical labor occasionally required of position.
- Meet all physical requirements of the position.
- Function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, dust mask, protective coveralls, and other as may be required by a hot/cold, dusty, loud industrial environment.
Pay
- CDL A – $25.33
- CDL B – $23.86
- No CDL – $23.28
