Stretcher Van Operator - LGH Ground Transport/Part Time Variable Shifts

This position is responsible for providing routine non‑medical transportation services for Centra Ground Transport under the direction of the Transport Supervisor(s) or designee. The Driver will provide a safe and enriching door‑to‑door experience for every individual, possess good communication skills, perform pre‑ and post‑vehicle safety inspections, follow scheduled transports, report and handle vehicle maintenance issues, and communicate all participant/patient needs to the immediate supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional door‑to‑door care to all Centra patients.
• Enter safely into patient homes on a routine basis.
• Communicate all patient changes and needs to the direct supervisor or Shift Lead.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑shift vehicle safety inspections, ensure the vehicle is in proper operational condition, and report any maintenance issues to relevant personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the Centra vehicle.
• Maintain all necessary records/documentation regarding participants/patients and vehicles.
• Transport patients who are ambulatory, wheelchair‑bound, or in a van stretcher.
• Adapt rapidly to changes between van stretcher, wheelchair shuttle, mental health, and courtesy shuttle transports.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Within six months of hire: VAVRS or VDFP EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) level 2.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• PASS (Passenger Assistance, Safety and Sensitivity) training.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in direct support, medical transport, non‑medical transport, stretcher van, or EMS.

Pay

$16.85 – $23.60 per hour.
